Could Corded Phones Make A Comeback?

Thursday May 13, 2010

If you take a look around you, you’ll notice that most of us rely on cordless phones. We have them in our homes, we have them in our pockets in the form of mobiles, and we carry them around through the house and even into the garden. There is no denying the power of the cordless phone.

But corded phones have their place too, and whenever the power goes out for an extended period of time we all run back to the corded phone so we can continue to phone people once the charge on our handsets and mobiles has been drained. Without power, the cordless phone is essentially useless. Only the corded phone is always, truly on our side.

So could corded phones eventually make a comeback and be used more often than they are at the moment? A lot could depend on how individuals think about them. For instance would you prefer to have one single phone in one room of your house, rather than constantly losing a cordless handset? If you are the type of person who is always running around trying to find the phone before it stops ringing, a corded version could well be more advantageous for you.

In addition to this a corded phone should be an essential part of every household anyway. And it shouldn’t be kept locked away in some dark cupboard, just in case it is needed during a power cut. No, it should be kept exactly where it will be required – right by the phone socket. You might even end up using it regularly if you like it better than the reception on your cordless phone.

And there is no doubt that for those people who like their phone to have a bit of character, you can’t do better than a corded version. We’re not just talking about the Mickey Mouses and the Batman phones, we’re talking about the comeback of the black telephones as they used to be several decades ago. This type of phone is still much loved by a lot of people. Would you say no to having one?

The phones of the Seventies are also very popular and making a comeback. So you can see that whatever type of phone you want to have, the corded version is always going to come packed with a lot more character than the cordless one. And doesn’t that make it a unique candidate for a comeback?
